El Charco, like many areas in Ipiales, has a culture marked by local traditions and indigenous and mestizo influences. Life in the neighborhood is characterized by a strong sense of community and the celebration of traditional festivals. People often participate in events and festivities that reflect their cultural roots, such as local festivals and fairs.

The El Charco neighborhood represents an authentic glimpse of life in southern Colombia, where cultural traditions and local gastronomy are an integral part of daily life.



Typical Dishes: The cuisine in El Charco reflects the richness of Nariño's cooking. Among the typical dishes you can find in the neighborhood are:

 

 



Cuy Asado: A traditional dish from the Andean region, made with roasted cuy (guinea pig), usually served with potatoes and chili sauce.



  • Sancocho de Gallina: A hearty stew prepared with hen, potatoes, cassava, plantain, and other vegetables, served with rice and avocado.



  • Potato Empanadas: Empanadas filled with a mixture of potatoes and spices, often accompanied by spicy sauces.



Corn Arepas: Made from corn, they are a common side dish and can be served in various ways.



Mazamorra: A traditional sweet made from corn, often served with milk or fruit.
